Like congrats on being unpleasant I guess

You know what? I’m beyond tired of “snark.” If a book is marketed at me as having “snarky” MCs or banter, I’m skipping it. There’s so much mean-spiritedness in snark.

Give me “goofy” characters instead. Give me “witty” characters. But above all, just please give me “kind” characters.

Thanksgiving 3

Every year as I prep my turkey, and disassemble it after, I'm more cognizant of it as a dead animal.
This doesn't really make me feel like giving up meat, but it does make me more strongly want to champion animal welfare and better minimum standards for livestock care.
If we're raising an animal to use it, meat or otherwise, that animal deserves the best we can offer it.
If something is going to die for us, we need to appreciate its life more.

Thanksgiving 2

I finished cooking my turkey and ate a bunch of breast meat, and sectioned the rest of the turkey into "good meat" and "turn into soup".

Putting the turkey breast down in the pan was HIGHLY effective for getting properly moist meat. Some of it was still a little dry, but none of it was too dry, and most of it was perfect.

Now I just have to find it in myself to finish off a LOT of meat before it starts going off. :p

Thanksgiving

I'm not really someone who celebrates Thanksgiving in a "founding myth of my country" way.

Still, I do celebrate getting a free turkey from the food donation people and getting to roast a big turkey and put the scraps in the freezer to make soup with later.

I just wish I hadn't been feeling so bad this week with aches and pains and fatigue.
But even if it hurts, I'm getting this turkey cooked, and actually having my own turkey on Thanksgiving.

Happy turkey day to everyone enjoying it, I hope you have good food and good family.
